L.A. Times x H.S. Insider LMU Youth Journalism Conference

Just wrapped up the LA Times H.S. Insider LMU Youth Journalism Conference, and though I'm sharing this a bit after the fact, this day was jam-packed with insightful workshops, including an engaging Podcasting 101 session led by Faith E. Pinho from the LA Times, a deep dive into the art of interviewing with CNN’s Carol Costello and a masterclass in feature writing, all orchestrated by pioneering women in journalism.

One of the standout moments for me was meeting Jovana Lara ABC 7’s leading news anchor. Her wisdom and strength highlighted the influential role women have in shaping the narrative and future of journalism. 

The guidance and perspectives shared by these accomplished women have enriched my passion for storytelling, the importance of community engagement, and understanding the impactful role media plays in our world.

I am just beginning to create the future I want for myself by continuing to attend events such as this. Never forget the importance of taking in guidance from those in positions you hope to one day have. Making those connections and mentorship’s are so invaluable and a great stepping stone to being connected to future opportunities.
